Summary draft

According to Invia Robotics (2019) the first automated guided vehicle (AGV) system, which eventually led to AGV forklifts, was introduced in the 1950s by Barrett Electronics of Northbrook, Illinois. The website also says, the initial AGV forklift was a simple towing machine that followed a wire laid in the floor, used primarily in warehouses and factories to transport materials. Nowadays, many types of AGVs have been developed, some utilizing simple sensors which track reflector tapes and others which use advanced laser guided sensors(Mansfield,2024). Most popularly used are the AGVs with laser navigation; this system uses a combination of a laser scanner on the AGV and multiple reflective targets placed throughout the facility. Laser strobes bounce off the reflectors which are detected by the AGV’s receivers and then utilized as inputs for its control algorithm, which then guides the AGV’s movement within the warehouse(Robopac USA, 2022). The AGV forklifts have been the solution to

Research Path for AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle)

I wanted to see how Automated Guided Vehicles worked and their pros and cons over manual means of material handling system I initially prompted ChatGpt to define what is an AGV and what different types there are to get a background overview.(Features and functions of an AGV). I then searched on google articles talking about the system and its pros and cons of the AGV I read about the details of the different types of AGV  We then look to compare its advantages (AGV) over the traditional methods such as needing manpower.

Self introduction

Dear Professor Blackstone, I am writing this email as an introduction of myself so that you can get to know me better. My name is Lee Xin Hong Eugene, but you can just call me Eugene. I graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a  diploma in Automation and Mechatronic Systems (AMS). I have always preferred to do my tasks with a hands-on approach and have always enjoyed working with machinery. Prior to joining SIT (Singapore Institute of Technology), I was an assistant engineer (AE) in a semiconductor company for at least 2 years at Micron. Our department’s job is to make sure that the fabrication plant (Fab) is running with minimal issues at all times and to have any system and tool errors be rectified as soon as possible. During my time in Micron, I was also tasked with conducting preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) for different tools to ensure that the quality of our tools is always kept at a high standard. I have really enjoyed my time in Micron working wit
First and foremost. As the term "engineers" is very broad in our books, However to the public the consensus is that all we do is tinker with machinery or something of the sorts. It is also very hard to convey the significance of our role in society as well as the technical concepts to them if one does not have prior technical knowledge or background. This may lead to a lose in interest when conversing to the other party and they may take it for what it is.
